Dr Shogenova is a Senior Researcher at the Department of Geology at Tallinn University of Technology (TalTech) and Director for Research of the SHOGenergy consulting company. Since 1994 Dr Shogenova has been a leader of various Estonian and international CCS research projects. Dr Shogenova is an author of more than 170 scientific publications. She has multidisciplinary research interests in the field of sedimentary geology including, petrophysics, reservoir and cap rock properties, geochemistry, mineralogy, diagenetic processes, CO2 geological, hydrogen and energy storage and CO2 use, CCUS regulations, economics and education.

She is lecturing the CO2 Geological Storage course for international students and supervising PhD and Master students in TalTech. She is also one of the professors of the International Master Course on CO2 Storage at Sapienza University of Rome in 2020 and 2023. Dr Shogenova is a member of the Estonian Geological Society, a Board member of the BASRECCS network, a representative of TalTech in CO2GeoNet and a Managing Committee member of the EU COST Geothermal-DHC network and EU COST Transmit network.
